Chapter 1:
This is a stand alone story, not a chapter of a novel

As Liliana approached the apartment door she compared the room number with what her agent told her over the phone.
"Room 303: Christopher St. George," Liliana mumbled to herself. "Another asshole photographer."
A knock on the beige colored door received no response and Liliana began to call her agent back when the manila envelope full of 8x10's slipped out of her hand and scattered all over the hallway floor.
"Dammit," Liliana said. As she crouched down to pick up the stack of head shots, a sense of hopelessness came over her. This is the third time this month her agent booked her for a shoot that went nowhere.
She, in a desperate attempt to redeem herself, decided to turn the doorknob to see if it was locked and to her surprise, it wasn't.
Immediately Liliana noticed the abrupt change in temperature of the room. The faint smell of melted plastic followed and there were no lights on in the apartment except for what seemed to be the glow of a fluorescent bulb coming from the bathroom.
"Christopher," Liliana called out. "Barbara Ainsley sent me over for an interview...hello."
No response.
Not knowing exactly what to do next, she stepped back into the hallway and called Barbara on her cellphone, but only got her voicemail.
Liliana, frustrated at her present situation, closed the front door of the apartment. It was then that she heard what sounded like a gargled scream coming from inside. She threw open the door and ran toward the bathroom.
Hung from the ceiling was the dismembered corpse of a man. His left arm was missing and his lower half was unrecognizable. On the wall behind the mangled corpse were the words smeared in blood...
"I'M BEHIND YOU"
Liliana screamed and turned around only to find the figure of a man dressed in a bright yellow raincoat. The butcher knife in his hand was plunged deep into her chest. Behind her hazel eyes was the look of horrendous fear.
Her cellphone began to ring as the killer stepped over her lifeless body and made his way toward the open window.
