This is one of the weirdest and unlikely comic-book crossovers I've seen in a long while, that of PLANET OF THE APES and ALIEN NATION. It works, for the most part.
This takes place in the Apes series created by Adventure Comics and features characters established in that series. A Tenctonese ship lands on the planet, though they aren't simply refugees. A leader has taken over who wants to conquer, so he recruits One-Eyed Ollo, a gorilla, and Simon the Slaughterer, an intelligent human, to help him do this. Our main characters, lead by the chimp Heston, have to warn Ape City from this threat.
My biggest problem with this is the artwork, as the apes don't resemble the apes from the movies, and are too "cartoony". Also, this ship of Tenctonese is a different ship than landed
on Earth in the television series, so there's no familiar characters. All these characters, from both Apes and Alien Nation, are created in the comic and it's a lot to keep straight.
