This five issue tale ends the run of Kirkman's lycanthrope superhero comic and brings everything to a tidy conclusion. Gary Hampton was a millionaire and family man who was bitten by a werewolf--and became a sort of superhero. He had learned that one of his benefactors, an ancient vampire Zechariah, killed his wife and his daughter had thought he was responsible. In fact, he spent much of the series on the run, trying to clear his name. Then, the leader of the werewolves makes himself known, though Gary has no idea what this ancient creature wants from him. In part five, we find this out--and more. The werewolf leader specifically chose him for an important job. While there is this whole superhero aspect to the series it's foremost a monster story and doesn't shy away from the blood and gore. And while this current series is ending it's left wide open for a more vicious (and famous) villain to enter and embarks The Astounding Wolfman on a entirely new series of adventures. Recommended.
