This is an impressive first issue, bringing to mind those EERIE and CREEPY Mags from the 70's. The glossy page thick comic consists of over a dozen stories, book ended by "The Doctor", this scaly faced mad scientist who wants to "invade someone else's mind and have it's vision". Then we go to the various stories. BLACK MILK, written and illustrated by Aaron Rintoul was one of my favorites, sort of Cthulhu meets zombies. The artwork is creepy. Then there's the more graphic/disgusting MY DIARY and another Lovecraft inspired tale, RUINED EARTH. CAVEAT EMPTOR, about a disgusting demon having sex with--and eating--a woman, had me laughing at the end and I really liked the purple monster in THE CORRIDOR. There are also one page color illustrations of various asylum inmates, with their biographies, such as "Frankenfreak" and "Cannibal Man". ASYLUM OF HORRORS gathers a wide, diverse collection of stories and art that fits together well.
