After having narrowly evaded the Cylons, the Galactica and its rag tag fleet escapes to a sort of limbo, stuck in the place ships go when they enter hyperdrive. With diminished fuel and food Apollo, Athena and Starbuck have to figure out how to escape this weird place they find themselves in. But trouble arises with the food shortages and people start rioting on the crowded ships. In fact, one group takes up arms and plants a hidden bomb aboard the Galactica, and threaten to explode it if their demands aren't met. And this growing rebellion threatens the positions of Apollo and Athena as the fleet's leaders. The most surprising thing of all in this book is what happens to Baltar, the ultimate traitor to humanity. The events that happen in this book are interesting-and it's cool to continue the Battlestar saga twenty-years later. But it isn't very well-written and there were times I just had to shake my head. For example, there's a scene with Starbuck and Athena about to have sex and they are interrupted. Apollo finds out about this and is made with his friend for messing with 'The Virtuous Athena'. Are we to believe they've never screwed around, being on the same ship for twenty-years. But as I said, I like what they did with the Baltar character. I never expected that turn of events. This book is only for the most die-hard BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fans.
