I found this second issue is more engaging than the first. Gorilla Aleron is visited by the police, wanted for killing an underling soldier fifteen years earlier. But rather than go with them, he flees, which makes him look guilty. He's eventually captured and sentenced. It's then that we see that Ape City is not crime free, that there's an actual Ape jail called The Reef. Meanwhile, the mute human who knows sign language, Tern, is helped by a kindly female chimp. The intelligent human insists that the police had killed his master, an orangutan sympathetic to humans. But there is an agenda to rid Ape city of mankind...
