Author: James Kidman BLACK FIRE is one of those novels in which the main character may either be the pawn of fate or just utterly insane. The book starts seven years after Eddie Farris had 'The Showdown', a fatal confrontation with his abusive prison guard father. This profoundly changed his life-putting him on sanity's edge ever since. Then, his girlfriend from high school comes back into town, bringing with her a child who turns out to be his son. She confides him that she's been getting threatening phone calls-and thinks that these calls are from Eddie's father. But is that possible? They had thought they killed him all those years before. Has he come back from the grave? Or is it someone else? The novel goes back and forth from present to past as the pieces in the puzzle fit together-and it's not until the very end that you know if it's his evil father who is causing all the trouble.BLACK FIRE is a good first novel- enjoyable, a quick read and an interesting storyline. I look forward to more James Kidman novels.Read the interview with Brian Freeman (his pen name is James Kidman) on the interview section of Buried.com or check out his website at www.JamesKidman.com
