The main character from BENEATH THE DARK ICE, Professor Matt Kearns, returns. It's several years after the events of that book and he's taken a teaching position. He's still traumatized from having barely survived those bizarre creatures. But there's another creature that lives on Black Mountain in the Appalachians and it attacks a camping couple. Only the woman survives--and she's covered in not-human blood.
There's also Alex Hunter, "The Arcadian", a genetically modified soldier who has amnesia. When he wakes up the woman caring for him tells him he's an Israeli agent--but he's really an American. And he's drawn to return to the US as he gets psychic flashes of his mother being attacked by this same creature.
This is an entertaining bigfoot tale. Recommended.
