This graphic novel is a reimagining of the classic Buck Rogers character. He awakens from a deep sleep from the 1940's to find himself 500 years in the future. The United States is gone and now consists of different gangs who fight amongst each other. The rest of the world is pretty much taken over by the Han, the Chinese. Although Buck has been in a few wars he understands the usual causes-greed for the people in power. So he is always a bit cautious and tries to not be racist like all the other white people seem to be. Wilma Deering is extremely violent-and has more of an adversarial relationship with this man from the past. In this version Kane and Ardalla are twin Caucasian siblings and are working with the Chinese. Yes, it does have a 1930's sci-fi feel to it, complete with air ships and jet packs, but I much prefer the 70's TV version of the character than the one portrayed here. Still, an interesting read.
