This second volume of Season 9 begins in 1975 with vampire-slayer Nikki and her watcher Crowley. She's pregnant and worried about her baby, Robin (who grows up to be the principal in the last two seasons of the Tv series). This ties into the story in the present, where Buffy believes she's pregnant. In San Francisco, Spike is assisting the police to help fight the zompires, this new mindless type of vampire that's been created by current events. Buffy's pregnancy takes a turn when she finds out that she's not pregnant at all--but she's a robot. Somehow, her mind has been transferred into a mechanical body. And then she's captured by a slayer who thinks she's the most powerful slayer--and wants Buffy to admit that.
On one hand I like it that they've continued the story lines into the comics, but at this point it's unnecessary--and a bit repetitive.
