Author: Robert Charles Wilson
In the early 2020's, huge glass-like monoliths start to appear in Third World Countries, starting with Thailand where a slacker by the name of Scott Warden is living with his wife and young daughter. He and a friend are among the first to see the first mysterious structure - and from that point on he's caught up in the world-changing events that they cause. It's discovered that these structures are from about twenty-years in the future and are 'victory' statues, marking the conquests of some future war. The trouble these things cause is not only from the mass destruction of their appearance in the middle of cities - but the emotional effect (panic!) they have on the population of the Earth. THE CHRONOLITHS is an intriguing sci-fi novel.
