Published by Leisure books, written by Ed LeeIf you've never read any of Ed Lee's books then this is a good place to start. Sixteen-year-old Cassie and her wealthy father move into an old country house following the suicide of her twin sister, Lissa. It turns out Cassie is an Etheress, a human being who is able to go to hell as a living person. She encounters three 80's type characters living in her attic-and they turn out to be dead people who are hiding away from Hell. They had all committed suicide. They eventually take her to hell and she experiences the Mephistopolis, a giant city larger than all the cities on Earth combined. And some truly awful stuff goes on here. Cassie feels responsible for her sister's suicide. The reason it happened is she was drunk at a party, her sister's boyfriend started making out with her and then Lissa walked in, catching them and thinking that they betrayed her. Then and there she kills her boyfriend and then herself. So Cassie now wants to find her and apologize-and to try to help her if she can.As an Etheress in Hell she's extremely powerful and can avoid or stop the dangers she encounters, which I thought was a really great idea for a continuing character and series of books. She thinks she has discovered her sister but it turns out to be a supernatural clone-and she ends up back at square one. But her story isn't over. Available from: www.dorchesterpub.com
