On Christmas, super-vampire Alex Elder is put on trial by a group of Arch Angels, ultimately spared because Satan vouches for him. It's revealed that ape-like Ekimus is a billion years old and is the father of the vampires, as he mated with Lisseth, Adam's first wife. The reincarnation of St. George, an African-American cop, takes the mantle and ends up slaying another dragon. He also takes the wrong side in a fight, siding with the Templar Knights, who turn out to be fanatics, not caring if innocent people are killed. We also finally meet Lisseth, who has taken a forlorn Ekimus prisoner in her lair.
