This recent Doc Savage novel is a blast. Clark Savage Jr. is summoned by his father to go on a search for his father, Doc's grandfather, Stormalong Savage. He had disappeared at sea long ago--but it may be that he's still alive and stranded on a mysterious island. And, you guessed it, the island is Kong's Skull Island. And, yes, he does encounter King Kong and ends up saving his life.
What I liked about this is we get a glimpse of Doc Savage before he becomes famous--and how he has to deal with being under the shadow of his father and grandfather. Also, this is also a sort of sequel to Joe DeVito's KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND, as it features a few characters from there. Highly recommended.
