Archer is a kid living in a world that's been flooded. After the ship he was riding on is attacked by pirates he's left adrift and is eventually rescued by Captain Cannonball Joe of La Revancha, the fastest ship on the East Coast. Archer has the map to a legendary treasure, hidden deep in the tunnels beneath what was New York City. Others - namely the captain of the Hoboken - one of the most feared pirates ever to sail the Jersey Shores - wants that treasure as well.
As the crew lives on the ship, they catch all their own food and have a steady supply of omelets, as these birds called SeaChix live on part of the ship and give them a steady supply of eggs. The evil Captain uses these giant mutated turtles to power his ship. And, of course, a horrible danger they all face on their quest to find the sunken treasure - 'The Suffocating Death', which is this huge, Cthulhu looking monster that appears to be a giant skull with octopus arms.
This Manga book published by Tokyopop is an entertaining adventure, sort of like WATERWORLD meets LORD OF THE FLIES with a bit of CADILLACS AND DINOSAURS thrown in. Recommended.
