This is an impressive oversized hardcover book that features classic images from the archive of Hammer Films. It covers every actress who had been in one of their films, from Ursula Andress in SHE to twins Mary and Madeleine Collinson (TWINS OF EVIL) to Nastassja Kinski and Martine Beswicke (ONE MILLION YEARS BC) and Caroline Munro (CAPTAIN KRONOS). Each actress is given a few pages, which feature some never before seen photographs. It also has their individual biographies, which in a larger context serves as a bio of Hammer Films itself since it relates their careers to what was happening with Hammer Films at the time. For example many of the sequels had different actresses in the roles because they went on to bigger and better things--or simply weren't interested in reprising the characters, as with Raquel Welch and Ursula Andress. The main thread most of the actresses have in common is that these pictures may have been among their only movies (Yutte Stensgaard, the Collinson twins) or that they retired to raise families (Veronica Carlsen).
The book is beautifully put together and is thorough. It is a definite must for any Hammer Film fan.
