Goodwin Armstrong is a down on his luck detective (is there any other kind?) who gets involved with protecting a famed psychic from what she perceives is an attack on a psychic level. She claims that aliens have landed on the Earth and are killing her telepathic peers. She's right. Soon Armstrong becomes as paranoid as her and comes to realize that the aliens are taking over people's bodies, a la INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. The only way to stop them is through violence-and this former policeman starts going on what appears to be a killing spree, destroying these alien entities. He becomes a wanted man. Can he stop the invaders before they take over the country-and the world? Sure, the idea isn't very original, but the book is very well-written with quirky characters. And author Jerry Jay Carroll makes it believable. A good alien-paranoia novel.
