Author: Eric ShapiroWhen I first received this and saw the three pages of quotes praising this novella, I was going 'uh oh'. It just makes me a little leery when the book is praised so much ahead of time-I didn't want my reading of it to be anticlimactic. But I must say this story deserves every one of those accolades. It is amazing, capturing a wide range of emotion on 'The Last Day on Earth'.The story concerns a college graduate who decides that, with only twelve hours to spare before a meteor impacts the Earth and destroys all life (except for some bugs), that he wants to spend the final moments with his girlfriend, Selma, who he broke up with months before. Yet many obstacles are in his way, from gun toting store owners to man-eating lions (but it's believable!). He learns a great deal about himself and comes to grips with his impending, inescapable doom. There are plenty of horrific moments as well.In fact, IT'S ONLY TEMPORARY is, perhaps, the best 'End of the World' story I've ever read.
