This hybrid of H.G Well's novel with DC's Justice League of America isn't quite as smooth a crossover as other Superman or Batman Elseworlds stories I've read.
Lucas Carr is rescued from the ocean after his ship sank. His rescuer, Professor Edward Ivo, is human, but the other person he immediately sees is green and scaled (Superman?). He goes above ship, just as it's docking to the island, and we see Dr. Moreau with four other humanoid creatures, analogous to Wonder Woman (a white ape), The Flash (a cheetah), Aquaman (a dolphin) and Green Lantern (a St Bernard crossed with electric eels!). The story keeps fairly close to the H.G. Well's novel, until the band of created humanoids is taken by Dr. Moreau to England where they help stop the spree of Jack the Ripper, who turns out to be Moreau's very first creation, an talking Organutan. This with most of the Elseworld's story this is downbeat and ends on a down note.
