This is a faithful graphic novel adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burrough's 1918 novel about an island where evolution is sped up. It begins out at sea when Bowen's ship is torpedoed by a German U-boat he helped to create. He rescues a young woman, Lys, and then they are rescued by an English ship, only to be fired upon by the submarine again. They manage to take it over-and end up on the lost island/continent of Caspak. They encounter all sort of prehistoric creatures, from the most primitive, to Cro-Magnon type cavemen.
This slim graphic novel is a decent read but the artwork didn't grab me. I far preferred the Marvel Magazine adaptation of the movie from the 70's.
