Johnny Horowitz makes his living taking photos for exploitive newspapers. But he's getting old and getting tired of the grind. That's why he's at Seagull Island in the Carolinas, a secluded spot far away from the grind of the Hollywood paparazzi. When he witnesses something incredible on the beach he wants to investigate--and make millions from his discovery. What he's found out is that under certain atmospheric conditions--in this case an oncoming hurricane--a time/rift opens up and he can see the beach and ocean how it was in the time of the dinosaurs. He asks around about this strange phenomenon but the locals are tight-lipped. He's repeatedly warned not to pursue it. But he does, with the help of a few locals.
This short novel combines a few of my favorite genres--time travel and the giant monster movie. I read it in one sitting--and wanted more. Highly recommended.
