Author: Steve Alten
Steve Alten's novel about the Loch Ness Monster answers a lot of questions you'd have about the legendary creature and presents a plausible explanation of what type of animal it actually is.
Biologist Zachary Wallace, after being scape-goated for the sinking of his research submarine by a giant squid, is fired by his University and goes on a self-pitying drinking binge. Six months later he is contacted by his estranged father in Scotland, who is on trial for murder. Against his better judgement he goes back to the country of his birth and discovers the guy is still an asshole. His father's defense to the court is that he didn't murder the man - Nessie ate him! Something is up with The Loch - and something is affecting the monster. Will Wallace be able to solve this ancient mystery? Will he be able to salvage his scientific career?
Although THE LOCH is an entertaining enough read it pales in comparison to the author's MEG novels, with weaker characters and unnecessary subplots.
