This is as close to an official sequel/finale to the original LOST IN SPACE television series as you are going to get. Scripted by Bill Mumy himself, it starts years later, with a nineteen year old Will Robinson and his family. Doctor Smith has been placed in suspended animation because of his knack for getting them all in trouble. And they finally reach their original destination of Alpha Centauri. Here they meet those aliens Smith had been spying for and the origin of the Jupiter 2 spaceship is revealed...it's of alien origin.
When the crew is captured by those creatures they are put into an alien contraption that sends them to several different destinations. Judy and Major West, who are engaged, are sent to a tropical paradise. Will and Dr. Smith are sent back to a nuclear ravaged Earth and have to fight mutants and gang members. And the parents are sent to an alien planet that resembles the old West. What happens to them all is surprising. I thought this all very cool.
There is also a ten-page premise that explains the genesis of this graphic novel, from the abrupt cancellation of the television series to Mumy writing the screenplay for a reunion movie, though Irwin Allen shot it down. And also how this continues the story line begun in Mumy's stint for writing the LOST IN SPACE comic in the 90's.
If you are a LOST IN SPACE fan it is necessary for you to own this book. Highly recommended.
