This is an original graphic novel that features Patricia Brigg's character Mercy Thompson. Mercy is a walker, a magical being that can transform into a Coyote. She goes to Washington for a job interview for teaching, which doesn't go so well, then finds herself in the middle of a turf war between two different packs of werewolves. Normally werewolves are smart and keep a low profile as to not to draw attention, but this new pack obviously doesn't care about that. We learn that she was raised by werewolves, the leader being The Marrock, and that he keeps an eye on her, like she's a wayward daughter. In the town where she's at she also befriends a kid who works as a garage mechanic--and this kid turns out to be one of the Fae, fairies. The boy's father, Zee, doesn't like Mercy so much. There are also vampires about, though these aren't exactly the evil kind.
This book as the feel of TRUEBLOOD, has similar supernatural creatures, though the emphasis is on the shape-changers. I enjoyed this so much I may actually pick up some of the Mercy Thompson novels...
