This issue begins a new storyline, "The Half Human". Sully, the leader of the Human Resistance, no longer believes that there can be peace between the two species. Sully's ten-year-old son has been raised by Alaya, the chimp leader of Ape City, as her own. In the opening pages the boy is being led across the city by Nix, the albino Gorilla. They're going to the Natural History Museum but are attacked by a trio of humans, who shoot Nix and kidnap the boy. While this is happening Alaya is in a city meeting. There are apes who want to continue using the old industrial technology of the humans but she wants them to stop polluting and become farmers instead. The rivers and skies are cleaner because they had stopped burning coal. When she finds out about Julian from the injured Nix, he tells her that it's because of the "Half Human", an urban legend. In truth, he's been taken by a scarred human who wants to interrogate him.
Meanwhile, Sully is on the Atlantic Coast, meeting with a group of human and ape "pirates", who may help the Resistance. She and her group are taking to a huge ship where she's surprised to find out their leader is a big hairless gorilla who rules with a Chinese woman.
I find it interesting that the writers skipped ten years, though it definitely advances the previous story line and sets up new conflict between apes and humans. Again, I highly recommend this series.
