Takes place a ways in the future. Mankind has been terraforming planets to be earth-like, but eradicate the life that already lives on them beforehand. On one dangerous planet called New Amazon, a group of scientists are cataloging all of the different life forms before they are destroyed. There is also a squadron of soldiers to protect the scientists, who are a different caste. But one scientist doesn't agree with the terraforming of planets that already have life so he does something about this. He has also been pursued to the planet by an old time enemy who has been chasing him around the galaxy for over two hundred years. This person is actually dead and his consciousness is able to take over the various robots they have in service.
RED CLAW is a very entertaining read. It also reminded me of authors Heinlein crossed with the energy of Matthew Reilly.
