by John Robert Russell. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of years in the future, the human race is divided into many different tribes. Some live like medieval peasants, some like cavemen, some with 'modern' technology. Sar, who was born in one of the tribes, escapes and encounters an unknown world-as well as many of the other tribes. He's captured and sold as a slave, escapes again and, after many adventures and killing quite a few people, eventually becomes a soldier for an Amazonian-like tribe whose main goal is to find out why mankind almost destroyed itself long ago. Although not quite as good as Russell's CABU, this is a quick, good read.
