Author: Edward Lee
A research team goes to a deserted tropical island to study a rare type of sea worm and find another creature far more dangerous. Somehow a mutation has occurred to the trichinosis worm, transforming it from a small parasite to a creature that grows larger than a boa constrictor. But the scientists are not alone. They start finding the dead bodies of others who were recently on the island - and soon discover hidden cameras in the trees. Is the abandoned army base on the island really empty? Is the government doing some type of biological weapon research and they are caught in the middle, to be used as guinea pigs? The answer is surprising and so unexpectedly goofy that the author manages to pull it off.
Not as subtle as THE BACKWOODS, not as graphic as THE BIGHEAD, SLITHER falls in between, presenting a weird story and plenty of skin and gore as only Edward Lee knows how.
