This is a very cool prequel and sequel to the events in the Buffy series, showing the twisted relationship between evil vampires Spike and Drusilla. The first story spans the early 1900's, in which they go to the world's fair in Chicago and encounter a scientist who has created a dimensional rift, opening the world to a tentacled, world-domineering demon. There's also a group of Chinese vampires who want revenge on them, for killing their father. Then they drive onward to St. Louis, on their way to The Hellmouth, and encounter yet another demon who is running a gambling business on an old steamship. And yes, there are tentacled demons here, too. Then, we skip ahead in time, to after the events where the duo leave Sunnydale and they are in a small town in Italy and there's definitely a rift growing between Spike and Dru. He's insanely jealous that she's still hung up on Angel, who is her sire, but Spike feels that Dru should be only his, as she's the one who turned him into a vampire. In this story he almost kills her by exposing her to daylight - and it's something she never forgives him for. In fact, this rift grows and he starts catching her having sex with other demons (it's the fungus demon in her bed that really sets him off!). This graphic novel is very true to the tv series and fills in those gaps you've been wondering about.
