I enjoyed the first issue of this new series two-hundred percent more than the first SPOOKS series, primarily because it's much darker and less predictable. The Omega Team, a part of The Department of Supernatural Defense, goes to the Amazon Rain Forest where they find a weird pyramid that's being used as a gateway for SOMETHING to come through. This thing is a Lovecraftian amphibious monster that is raising a brood.
The leader of the team is Mordecai Kane, who sort of reminds me of Woverine in his look at gruffness. His backstory is that he was a prisoner who successfully fought off a vampire attack. And while he was bitten he was immune to their bite. SPOOKS offered him a choice-- go back to prison or join the team.
