STAR TREK THE LOST ERA 2360: CATALYST OF SORROWS (2004)The 6th and final in the LOST ERA series takes place four years before the first episode of TNG and deals with an artificial virus that's plaguing the area around the Neutral Zone. Admiral Uhura, now over a hundred years old and head of Starfleet Security, is contacted by one of her informants on Romulus about the contagion, which has a 100% fatality. A young Romulan messenger named Zetha is sent to Starfleet headquarters, bearing a sample of the plague, which is quickly examined by Dr. Beverly Crusher. In order to put a stop to the fatal illness they have to discover where it had begun-and so Starfleet sends in a small undercover crew into Romulan Space. It's led by Lt. Benjamin Sisco, who is whole-heartedly recommended to Uhura by Curzon Dax. The science officer is Tuvok (from VOYAGER) and also on hand, via new holographic technology, is Leonard McCoy, who is 120+ years old at this point. This novel seamlessly blends characters from the four different Trek series and satisfactorily concludes this book series.
