Book One: After seven long years in the Delta Quadrant the crew of the Voyager is finally home. But it's not quite what they expected. Their return is anticlimactic, as everyone is still recuperating from the Dominion War, and little attention is being paid to their discoveries. On Earth the Doctor is being ignored, just viewed as another holographic image, not a sentient entity. And Seven decides to put her relationship with Chakotay on hiatus, until she comes to a better understanding of herself and how she fits in with the rest of humanity. Coinciding with their return, though, is a Borg virus that is spreading-and the Doctor and Seven are thrown into a Federation Prison, suspected of having something to do with it. The novel ends on a cliffhanger-with Admiral Janeway, their former captain, coming up with a plan to rescue her incarcerated friends. This is a fairly grim book, making most of VOYAGER's previous adventures pale in comparison. Yet if you want to find out what happens to the characters it is very engaging. Written by Christie Golden.
