): Lin Carter's barbarian hero and his world are distinctly different from that of Conan, in most part because of the fantastic landscape in which the story takes place. Lemuria is a prehistoric continent of twenty-five thousand years ago where the last of the dinosaurs still dwell. There are many different civilizations and people, from the ape-men (possibly the last of the Neanderthals) to magic wielding wizards. And everyone rides dinosaurs as means of transportation since horses haven't quite evolved to their normal size. Here, Thongor and his fiance, princess Sumia, have escaped from their previous adventure in a flying craft-but the craft is drawn towards Omm, a city that has been ruled by a horrific vampire for the past one thousand years. Xothun, as he is called, needs new blood to feed on and Thongor is on the menu! This vampire his obese, like that vampire in the movie BLADE, and practices science rather than sorcery. Of course, our hero eventually escapes and makes way back to his princess' kingdom, which had been taken over by a corrupt, power hungry king (who is being influenced by an evil dwarf). There's a revolt and Sumia and Thongor become King and Queen of the city. But that's not the end of his adventures because there's a bunch more books...
