These special edition hardcovers reprint the first TOR stories, which were published in the 1950's (and reprinted in the 70's by DC Comics). Tor, a caveman living one million years ago, is banished from his tribe and wanders the land, helping those in need. He does this because he has this feeling that "it's the right thing to do" , so he does it. He has a side-kick named Chee-chee, a monkey-like creature that has some intelligence. It's sort of like what N'kima is to Tarzan. Although he fights prehistoric creatures, the majority of his foes are human--whether they be a bully that's taken over a tribe, a shaman who is trying to deceive people or just someone who is angry and taking it out on everyone.
Also in the book is "The Wizard of Ugghh", kind of a prehistoric W.C. Fields, and "Danny Dreams", about a modern kid who daydreams about living in the prehistoric world, which I didn't care for as much.
