by Joe Kubert
The majority of this hardcover reprints Joe Kubert's TOR stories that were originally published by Marvel's Epic Line in the early 90's. The stories are more graphic, the artwork better, and the creatures more fantastical in nature.
The first story, from the 70's, tells a tale from Tor's youth, in which he learns a lesson dealing with a bully. Then it's basically his origin tale of how he became a wanderer. After being almost killed by a gang of caveman thugs who have killed his father and taken over his tribe, he makes his way near a volcano, where a group of anthropoid creatures are sacrificing a beautiful human woman to their god. He rescues her but is taken captive and sacrificed to an amphibious/Cthulhuesque creature that lives in the caves below. He kills the obscene creature and manages to rescue the woman.
