This new comic series from IDW with new stories that take place with the TRUE BLOOD characters off to a decent start. Issue #1 has all the characters in Merlotte's during a thunderstorm and there's tension between Sookie and Eric and vampire Bill (of course). Then, a customer shows up that turns out to be a supernatural creature, Imp Shaloop, who the native americans worshipped. He's there to eat but doesn't want anything on the menu. In issue #2 we learn that what he wants are stories from Sookie and her companions, stories about their deepest darkest secrets. Sookie recounts a story about her parents and how uncomfortable they were about her mind-reading gift. And the day they were killed she had told them that she hated them. Then, Eric begins to tell a tale that takes place in the 1500's during the Inquisition. It just so happens that this particular inquisitor is a familiar vampire face from the series. Then, in issue #3 Tara tells the story of growing up with her crazy mother and what she had to deal with in regard to that unenjoyable childhood.
So far I'm enjoying this series, as it fleshes out the characters and they are able to do things in a comic that would be too expensive on the series, like the tentacled monster.
Also, a big plus is that the characters all look like they are supposed to, not just generic representations of them like I've seen with different characters in different comic adaptations (SUPERNATURAL!).
