This TPB starts off a year after Princess Diana stopped being Wonder Woman. She has killed an arch villain and although the charges against her were dropped because it was self-defense, she retired because she needed to figure out who she is. In the meantime, Donna Troy, Diana's younger sister and formerly Wonder Girl, has taken up the mantle. Her sidekick is Cassie, another similarly powered Amazon whose father is actually Zeus.
The story begins with a trio of Super Villains--Giganta, The Cheetah and Dr. Psycho holding Steve Trevor hostage and demanding that the real Wonder Woman come to them. This is all a ruse by Circe, however, because she wants to be in that position, fighting for women's rights, though she's all too willing to kill whatever men stand in her way.
Diana goes undercover with the agency for Metahuman affairs as "Diana Prince", to keep an eye on things, and is paired up with partner Nemesis. Diana reveals herself to Donna and Cassie, who have mixed reactions.
Then, things really get rolling when Hercules shows up and says that he is now taking over the position that the original Wonder Woman once held. However, his intentions aren't so altruistic, which forces Diana to done the costume once again, perhaps for good.
As Brian K. Vaughan states in the preface, this is definitely one of the best Wonder Woman stories you'll ever read. If they ever make a live-action movie, this is the story-line to follow, as it weaves all of her contradictory elements together.
