After the events of PLANET HULK, Hulk and his Warbound travel to Earth in their spaceship. The Warbound are Korg, a rock-like alien, Miek, an insect alien, Elloe, a native from Sakaar, Hiroim, a warrior from that planet, and Brood, the last alien from the Brood. Hulk wants revenge on those he blames for the death of his kingdom and his Queen, Caiera. These are Mr. Fantastic, Dr. Strange, Iron Man and Blackbolt.
He goes to the moon first, where the Inhumans reside, and beats the crap out of Blackbolt. Then, he transmits a message around the world, telling how these scientists tricked him, shot him into space to a world called Sakaar and then exploded a bomb, which killed a million people. While She-Hulk, The Thing and others try to have a go at him, he's too powerful. And he's intelligent, not the grunting version of the Green Goliath from the past.
The confrontation with Hulk and the Earth's heroes is set to take place in Madison Square Garden, like the arena fights on Sakaar, and so most of NYC is evacuated.
However, things change when Hulk discovers who is really responsible for exploding that bomb on his adopted planet.
In the end, HULK is defeated, though it's a somewhat empty defeat, and Bruce Banner is imprisoned three miles below a facility in the Mojave Desert. And back on Sakaar, from the ashes, a Hulk-like figure emerges, presumably Skaar, Son of Hulk.
