I've always found the various DAMAGE CONTROL mini-series to be highly entertaining and this does not disappoint. The first story, WORLD WAR HULK: AFTERSMASH ONE-SHOT takes place after the Hulk's defeat--and it's up to Damage Control to pick up the pieces of the destroyed sections of New York City. The remaining Warbound still want to fight, and so Iron Man, The Hulk and Spiderman and a new Goliath try to stop them from causing more damage.
In WWH: AFTERSMASH: DAMAGE CONTROL Damage Control assesses that it will cost 164 billion dollars to repair the damage to Manhattan. Once the work begins, John Porter, account executive, has to deal with confrontations with the various superheroes. Everyone wants to help, but there are those registered with the government (as per the events of CIVIL WAR) who don't want the others assisting.
The funniest thing is that everyone keeps on calling the new Black Goliath everything from Big Brother to Black Buck to Big Black and he keeps on trying to correct them until he decides just to be called Goliath.
The weirdest event, however, is that The Chrysler Building has become alive, complete with a giant face and an attitude. It has become conscious because it was contaminated with the rock-like substance that made the Hulk's spaceship and now the construction workers have to try to reason with it. And what does it want most? "I dunno," it says, "Mainly just to stretch my legs." When they point out that he doesn't have any legs he replies "I didn't have a facae until about two hours ago".
WORLD WAR HULK: DAMAGE CONTROL is, I think, the most entertaining book of the whole series.
