During an interview with Hysteria-Lives.com actor Timothy L. Raynor, who plays the killer, said he got the role because director Jimmy Houston was impressed with his martial arts skills and his ability to handle a weapon. Raynor said that the knife he wields in the movie wasn't a prop but an actual butcher’s knife.

The scene where Radish frantically calls on the payphone at the gym proved problematic when the original phone fell off the wall and broke on the first take. The crew had to go out at 4 a.m. and grab another payphone from a gas station for the scene.

Much of the films crew were friends and students of director Jimmy Huston.

On the DVD commentary star Joel S. Rice said that director/writer Jimmy Huston wanted to avoid slasher movie cliches when he wrote the film by focusing more on the young characters and less on gore and violence.
