Movie Quote(s):
  • Professor Hideto Miyajima: What's this ? Who are you ? Alien Supreme Leader Kuronuma: Commander for conquest of Earth, from the third planet of the black hole, outer space. Professor Hideto Miyajima: So I was right. You are spacemen. Alien Supreme Leader Kuronuma: I admire your deductive processes.
  • Alien Supreme Leader Kuronuma: Damn Godzilla... You're mistaken if you think your powers are a match for Mechagodzilla.
  • Saeko Kaneshiro: When the red moon sets, and the sun rises in the West, two monsters will appear to save the people.
  • [the fake Godzilla, Mechagodzilla in disguise, strides ominously around the Mount Fuji countryside, as Keisuke, Wagura, and Saeko watch on TV] Professor Wagura: When a black mountain appears above the clouds, a monster will arrive and try to destroy the world. The ancient prophecy is coming true. Saeko Kaneshiro: I would never have guessed... that the monster could be Godzilla!
  • [Saeko, standing next to Shimizu on the deck of the Coral Queen, hears a faint bubbling noise yonder in the sea] Keisuke Shimizu: What's the matter? Saeko Kaneshiro: I thought I heard Godzilla just now! Keisuke Shimizu: [scanning the seascape] I don't hear anything. Saeko Kaneshiro: Mm, you're right. But... I could swear that I *did* hear him!
Movie Trivia:
  • When Universal Studios, responsible for both the "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1974) and the "The Bionic Woman" (1976) threatened to sue Cinema Shares Releasing over the title (Godzilla Vs. the Bionic Monster), the movie was quickly retitled Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster.
  • This film was the last appearance of the monster Anguirus and only appearance of King Shisa until their long-awaited return 30 years later in Gojira: Fainaru uzu (2004).
  • This was produced as Godzilla's 20th Anniversary film (which was also stated in the original Japanese theatrical trailers).
  • This was the last Godzilla film scored by composer Masaru Sat.
  • The guardian monster King Shisa is based on the actual "shs" lion-dog guardian statues in Okinawa. Originally from China, they are statues that ward off evil spirits. Another Japanese name for them is "komainu" (lion-dog).
