After having an acrimonious argument with his girlfriend, Greg Wallace takes his vicious temper out on the wrong person: a wandering vagrant. As luck would have it, this is not just any wandering vagrant, but one who retains powerful grudges against those who do him wrong. Later when Greg is involved in a serious accident in which he breaks both his legs, the vagrant is the only person who finds him. But rescue, however, is the last thing on the vagrant's mind: he wants retribution. Too isolated for help to reach him and with his condition rapidly deteriorating, Greg is forced to engage in a psychological game of cat and mouse with the evil transient which ends up dragging in innocent passers-by and even those Greg cares about. A ruthless battle of wills ensues with every manner of Red Herring thrown in along the way, leading to a shattering climax.

- Angela: Why do you have to always act like such a bollocks every moment of your waking life? Greg: Well, maybe you should try asking yourself why you make me act like such a bollocks!
Greg: I just want you to know that this is the first time I've ever done this. Been to a psychiatrist, I mean. There's such a stigma attached to it, you know? People automatically assume that if you're seeing a shrink, then you must be a complete basket case. The truth is, I'm not here because I'm a basket case... Well, my girlfriend does call me that sometimes...
Greg: Tell me doctor, what do you think? Am I abnormal?
Greg: What are you coming back for now - to take a fuckin' shit on me?
Angela: Do you know anything else about him, like, his name? Greg: Well, we haven't made formal introductions if that's what you mean.
- Principal photography began in December 2006 and continued on a part-time basis until February 2008. The schedule wasn't helped by adverse weather conditions, which would delay the shoot for months at a time. The production briefly resumed in July of the same year for an additional four days of re-shoots and pick-ups.
The film was made to fill a gap in Totality Pictures' schedule after their previous production, another horror movie called 'Panic Attack', was temporarily put on hold.
Because of a crucial plot point, lead actor Noel Aungier had to spend 95% of the shoot crawling on the ground.
Producer-director Peter Bergin penned the script during an intense five-day writing marathon. He also maintained a comprehensive 'making of' journal for the duration of the production.
As written in the script, the Drifter was initially supposed to carry a wooden staff. This was later discarded when it was decided it wouldn't look good if the Drifter was chasing the fleeing car in the opening scene while holding something in his hand. The wooden staff, however, appears briefly in another scene, which was shot long before the decision to discard it had been made.
