Found-footage style horror film, Eyes in the Dark, will be playing at the Local Sightings Film Festival on Saturday, October 2, at 11pm, at the Northwest Film Forum in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. For those unfamiliar with the festival, Local Sightings is considered the premier showcase of Pacific Northwest filmmaking, put on by the Northwest Film Forum, which has been called the backbone of the Seattle film community, by Humpday director Lynn Shelton.
Eyes in the Dark is the only Northwest horror feature showing at the festival.
Thats a big compliment, says Eyes editor and co-producer Robyn Scaringi. There are so many amazing horror films made around here, so were proud that Local Sightings has chosen our film to represent the genre.
Films like Zombies of Mass Destruction, The Taken, and Book of Zombie are just a few of the regions recent independent horror films.
The Local Sightings website describes Eyes in the Dark as Seattles Blair Witch Project, a description that the filmmakers are happy to accept.
Thats exactly what we were going for, says Eyes director Bjorn Anderson. Local Sightings has a great line-up this year, and were really looking forward to a lively crowd at our late-night screening on October 2nd.
The 78-minute movie was filmed over several months in the forests of the Cascade Mountains. The films plot features an unknown force hunting down unsuspecting hikers near Snoqualmie Pass.
Anderson, Scaringi, and two of the films other producers will be in attendance at the Local Sightings screening. The filmmakers will also be offering a Q&A session after the screening, courtesy of the Northwest Film Forum.
