An outstanding line-up of horror films await cinemagoers at AFI FEST 2010 presented by Audi. AFI FEST will take place in Hollywood, California at the historic Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Mann Chinese 6 theatres, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel from November 4-11, 2010. The following films are among the highlights of this year's line-up:
BEDEVILLED will screen in the New Auteurs section, which distinguishes first- and second-time feature film directors from around the world. From South Korean director Cheol-soo Jang, an island vacation turns deadly for Hae-won when she tries to help her abused childhood friend and her daughter escape.
The World Cinema section presents new work by many of the world's most renowned filmmakers. The horror/thriller films screening in this section include:
1. I SAW THE DEVIL: From South Korean director Kim Jee-woon, a secret agent vows to get revenge on the man who murdered his fiancée, even if he must become a monster himself.
2. RUBBER: A car tire in the California desert uses psychokinetic powers to explode heads – for no reason. From American director Quentin Dupieux
Other films you may be interested in include the Midnight Selections, a new section showcasing comedy and horror programming worthy of midnight viewings:
1. CARGO: The crew of a cargo spaceship makes gruesome discoveries and begins to distrust each other. From Swiss directors Ivan Engler and Ralph Etter.
2. JULIA'S EYES (LOS OJOS DE JULIA): From Spanish director Guillem Morales, a woman suffering from a degenerative eye disease finds her blind twin sister dead and sets out to uncover the truth.
Another section new to AFI FEST this year is Breakthrough, which highlights films discovered solely through the submissions process. This section includes the North American Premiere of THE WEATHER STATION (PRYACHSYA), where detectives investigating the disappearance of meteorologists on a remote Russian mountain get sucked into a vortex of mistrust, betrayal and murder. From director Johnny O'Reilly.
