20th Century Wolf Horror Films, represented by A. Werner, M. Anthony and M. Peter, is the production company behind the psychological horror thriller DARK TWISTED KARMA. This film will be directed by award-winning Director David Karges and slated to be shot this October 2009 at the newly renovated Mark 7 Studios which has been fully upgraded into a premier HD Film production and Live HDTV Broadcasting Studios Complex in the NYC area. Attached Producers are Renata Lorenc and A. Werner. Karges also wrote the feature-length screenplay and is pleased to have the opportunity to execute his vision onto the big screen. Talent attachments include horror industry stars and icons Debbie Rochon (FINAL EXAMINATION, CHICAGO MASSACRE: RICHARD SPECK), and Robyn Griggs (ABC's ONE LIFE TO LIVE, CRAIG, NOVEMBER SON) who were both excited about the project and intent on playing leading roles in the film. Also entering the scene will be the beautiful and talented high end fashion model/actress Saskia Slaaf (SHOWTIME'S NURSE JACKIE, THE RULES OF ATTRACTION). Slaaf is excited about making her first horror film and commented "I was so connected to the characters and the storyline that I couldn't refuse the offer".
DARK TWISTED KARMA is the story of a B-movie scream queen who after experiencing a complete memory loss of a celebratory "night out on the town", begins to encounter bizarre inconsistencies in her reality that slowly reveal a shocking truth that takes her from horror film heroine to real life antagonist. Karges was confident that Rochon, having appeared in over 150 thrillers in diverse roles worldwide, would be able to accurately portray the complex and emotionally disturbed lead character, Karma. Griggs appeared in two prior short horror features written, produced and directed by Karges. He stated "I knew I wanted Robyn to play the role of Rhiannon, the repressed and submissive co-dependent friend who ends up emerging as an outspoken and confident dominant force in the film's finale". In the tradition of MEMENTO, SAW and HIGH TENSION, DARK TWISTED KARMA incorporates current factual groundbreaking research in the field of psychology that adds to the unnerving realism sure to please even the most discerning fans of the genre.
David Karges has worked in the film industry in various capacities for over ten years. DARK TWISTED KARMA will be his first full-length feature film as a director although he has four award-winning horror shorts under his belt. Accomplished producer and film publicist Renata Lorenc will be at the helm with Karges and was instrumental in helping him procure funding for the ambitious project. Stated Lorenc "From being a publicist for over ten years, I knew the potential and market for good horror scripts and worked tirelessly in trying to get DARK TWISTED KARMA developed". The two are in pre-production on another venture, an arthouse thriller entitled "Crumble" written and directed by the multi-talented Lorenc and produced by Karges in a reversal of roles on this project.
Principal photography will take place at Mark7 Studios.
Mark7 Studios, a state of the art premier HD Film Production and Live HDTV Broadcasting Studios complex in New Jersey and NYC area. 20th Century Wolf Horror Films was created by the above studio management and private investors out of their interest in financing and producing cutting-edge horror thrillers with award-winning producers, directors, actors that would reach wide audiences. 20th Century Wolf Horror Films plans on a limited theatrical release of DARK TWISTED KARMA and foreign and domestic distribution in ancillary markets. The film's release date is 2010.
