Author and filmmaker Gregory Lamberson announced three new theatrical screenings for Slime City Massacre, his gooey celebration of 1980s cult films which stars Debbie Rochon and Brooke Lewis and features cameos by Roy Frumkes and Lloyd Kaufman. After a successful tour on the horror film festival circuit, SCM was released on DVD in 2011 by Media Blasters and enjoyed a limited theatrical release from iFN, Indie Film Net.

"This is what it takes to make the audience aware of a film that defies easy categorization," says Lamberson. "SCM is horror, it's sci-fi, its action, and its bizarro comedy. It took the original Slime City about eighteen years to develop its reputation as a cult film; it needed to fade away and be re-released and rediscovered. Our goal with SCM is to keep it out there in public, so that the people it was made for have a chance to see it on a big screen, with an audience. I'm glad that promoters keep contacting me to screen it, and not the other way around."

First up, the slimy opus mucks up the Tampa Pitcher Theater in Florida on Thursday, February 9th, at 9:30 pm. Lamberson will do a Q&A with Lee Perkins, one of the stars of the film. The screening launches Cult Movie Mayhem's "Screaming Cinema" series. Future entries in the series include Father's Day, Theatre Bizarre and Herschell Gordon Lewis's The Uh-Oh Show.

Romance is in the air one week later, on Friday, February 17th, when Las Vegas bets on slime for "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre" at Theatre7, sponsored by the PollyGrind Film Festival, which named SCM "the Biggest Baddest Mother of the PollyGrind" in 2010 and awarded author Kealan Patrick Burke with its Best Actor award.

On May 26th, the slime returns to the scene of the crime at Buffalo's Central Terminal; SCM was filmed in abandoned buildings surrounding the historic Art Deco tower in 2009. "Beyond Ghosts ParaHorror Weekend" is a three-day event to benefit the restoration of the Terminal, and Lamberson and local cast members will screen the film. Lloyd Kaufman will be on hand to show POULTRYGEIST, also filmed in Buffalo.

Lamberson has three new horror books being published this year, including the zombie novella Carnage Road from Creeping Hemlock Press in April; his werewolf sequel The Frenzy War from Medallion Press in June; and Tortured Spirits, book four in "The Jake Helman Files," from Medallion in October. Slime City Massacre was co-produced by Medallion Movies, a division of Medallion Media Group.

Slasher Studios is proud to bring you their second slasher hit for online viewing.

Popularity Killer is a low budget dark-comedy horror short from the studio that brought you Teddy: Its Gonna Be a Bear. Teddy, Slasher Studios first short horror film, was an independent 14 page horror short that was shot on Canon 5D with a budget of just $3,000 over three days in a mountain cabin. Popularity Killer was far more ambitious in nature. Seven deaths, a budget of just $5,000, and seven days of filming went into the bloody slasher flick.

With Popularity Killer, Slasher Studios has created a smart and bitterly funny horror film about the clichs of high school. With the dark social satire of the script (kill or be killed elements of high school), they have devised a horror film that plays homage to both the slasher films of the 1980's as well as the slasher films of the 1990's. Max Ingram from Rabid Dog Press said Id definitely recommend checking out Popularity Killer. Its a genuinely fun time, and when I watched it I felt like I was transported back to the movie theatres of 1985 when slasher movies were king. This is good, gore-tastic stuff!

Through a series of tragic events a middle aged man grows to suspect the negative impulses plaguing his mind may not be his own...

ROUGH PLOT OUTLINE:

The first half of the film explores the inner thoughts of a man who for reasons known and unknown despises his family. We hear his inner thoughts as they drive him to carry out despicable and selfish deeds. This continues until the voice/inner thoughts go too far and suggests deeds beyond the scope of the mans unexplainably separate and resistant moral consciousness. He becomes aware that this "voice" or "inner thought" isn't him and he defies it. By defying the voice he dislodges it and soon a physical manifestation of that voice appears as a lumpy, cancerous mass beneath his skin. The second half of the film depicts the man becoming aware of a large pulsing mass beneath his skin, a mass which appears shortly after he defies the sinister "inner voice". The mass moves about his body from his neck down through his torso, into his legs and back.

When he touches it he hears the "voice" which has controlled him his entire life, the voice he thought to be his own mind and thought process. It tries to barter, to regain control of his mind, to stay connected. With the pulsing mass beneath his skin vying to reassert its influence the man devises a solution as horrific as it is simple.

There was something in the moody and dogged silence of this pertinacious companion that was mysterious and appalling… On mounting a rising ground, which brought the figure of his fellow-traveller in relief against the sky, gigantic in height, and muffled in a cloak, Ichabod was horror-struck on perceiving that he was headless!--but his horror was still more increased on observing that the head, which should have rested on his shoulders, was carried before him on the pommel of his saddle! His terror rose to desperation; he rained a shower of kicks and blows upon Gunpowder, hoping by a sudden movement to give his companion the slip; but the spectre started full jump with him. Away, then, they dashed through thick and thin; stones flying and sparks flashing at every bound.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimm'd:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

From first-time director Justin Kurzel, Snowtown marks the arrival of a major new filmmaking talent. A nail-biting, emotionally compelling and a psychologically devastating account of real-life murders, Snowtown documents the true-story of John Bunting - Australia's most notorious serial killer.

Set in Adelaide, Southern Australia during the late 1990s, Bunting rallies against a nonchalant police force where paedophiles and drug addicts are free to roam the streets. Bunting takes on the role as an unsolicited vigilante for the under-classes by taking the law into his own hands and sets off on a killing spree.

Originally a native of Brisbane, Queensland, Bunting is currently serving eleven consecutive sentences of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, for his role in the killing of 11 victims, now referred to as the "Snowtown murders".

Bunting was the ringleader of what is described as a "degenerate sub-culture" of murderers. His crimes led to the longest and most expensive investigation and criminal trials in Australia's history. Bunting's targets consisted primarily of people he knew and thought to be paedophiles and homosexuals. He has been described as a skilled manipulator of people and "Australia's worst serial killer".

With an outstanding cast, made-up almost completely of newcomers, Snowtown has mesmerised viewers and critics alike. The film was honoured with the prestigious Adelaide Film Festival's Audience Award, was given the President's Special Mention at Cannes, and was officially selected for the 2011 London Film Festival.

Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Jamie (Lucas Pittaway) lives with his mother, Elizabeth, and two younger brothers in a housing trust home in Adelaide's northern suburbs. Their home is but one of many sun-starved houses crammed together to cater for a disenfranchised society. Jamie longs for an escape from the violence and hopelessness that surrounds him, and his salvation arrives in the form of John (Daniel Henshall), a charismatic father figure who unexpectedly comes to his aid.

As John spends more and more time with Jamie's family, Elizabeth and her boys begin to experience a stability and sense of family that they have never known. John moves from the role of Jamie's protector to that of his mentor, indoctrinating Jamie into a world brimming with bigotry, righteousness and malice.

Like a son mimicking his father, Jamie soon begins to take on some of John's traits and beliefs as he spends more and more time with him and his select group of friends. The protection and guidance that John presents to Jamie is initially welcomed however as events occur around him, including the disappearance of several people, Jamie begins to harbour deep suspicions about John and his motivations.

When the truth is finally revealed to Jamie, his hopes of happiness are threatened by both his loyalty for, and fear of, his new found father figure, John Bunting - Australia's most prolific and dangerous serial killer.
