Starring Mel Gibson in his first leading role since 2002's "Signs" and Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast, The Departed), EDGE OF DARKNESS is an edgy, ruthless revenge thriller that sees Gibson return to his action-packed best.
Directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Goldeneye, Green Lantern) and co-written by William Monahan (The Departed), EDGE OF DARKNESS sees Thomas Craven (Gibson), a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and single father, embark on a psychological and challenging mission to find his daughter's killer.
When Craven's only child, twenty-four year old Emma (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. He soon suspects otherwise.
His investigation leads him into a dangerous world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion, intrigue and murder. Along with CIA operative Darius Jedburgh (Ray Winstone), who has been sent in to clean up the evidence, their solitary search for answers about Craven's daughter's death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.

EDGE OF DARKNESS is based on the popular BBC television series of the same name. Comprised of six episodes, the TV series was first broadcast on BBC2 in 1985, and received critical acclaim and an average of 4 million viewers per episode. Edge of Darkness feature film director, Martin Campbell, also directed the original BBC TV series, which earned him a British Academy Television Award for Best Direction.
ABOUT THE CAST:
Mel Gibson (Thomas Craven) was born in Peeksville, New York, he is a multi-award winning actor, writer and director. Shortly after his birth Gibson's family moved from America to Australia, his first major acting break came in Mad Max (1979), the small budgeted movie brought worldwide acclaim to the young star who would go on to become one of the most recognized and successful actors of his generation. As well as his signature Lethal Weapon series, Mel Gibson is also know for standout performances in Hamlet (1990), Forever Young (1992), Braveheart (1995), Ransom (1996) Payback (1999) and The Patriot (2000). Edge Of Darkness (2010) is Gibson's first leading role in a film since 2002's Signs.
Ray Winstone (Darius Jedburgh) was born in Hackney in East London and, before going into acting, was a champion boxer, twice fighting for his country. Working extensively in television, as well as in feature film, Winstone is best know for his roles in Sexy Beast (2000), Sweeny Todd (2006), The Departed (2006), Beowulf (2007) and 44 Inch Chest (2010).
Danny Huston (Jack Bennett) was born in Rome, Italy and is the son of the acclaimed director John Huston, whom produced Danny's first feature film as a director Mr North. Since his first acting appearance in 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, Danny has since appeared in such films as 21 Grams (2003), 30 Days of Night (2007), X-men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and the soon – to – be – released re-make of Clash of The Titans.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Martin Campbell was born in Hastings, New Zealand and is best know for directing two James Bond feature films, 1995's Goldeneye and 2006's Casino Royale. He is the first director to work on more than one Bond film since John Glen in the 1980s. On television, Campbell is best know for the 1985 6-part BBC drama series "Edge of Darkness", he was fittingly asked to direct the 2010 re-make. Other work includes the Mask Of Zorro films starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
