New Valiant Productions multi award winning Short, "Trash Day Of The Dead" has received top honors at the International Ava Awards. The short from the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" campaign took home the Platinum Ava Award in the Television/Public Service Announcements category.
"Trash Day Of The Dead" (Produced by Michael Creason, and written & directed by Cameron McCasland) has been on a roll with wins at the AEGIS, Blingy, and Marcom awards this year. As well as an Emmy nomination for writing for McCasland. It stars Nashville Horror Host Dr. Gangrene (Larry Underwood) and his assistant Nurse Moan-Eek (Linda Wylie) as they spread their message of Going Green in a Black & White Zombie short that was shot in downtown Nashville.
"Trash Day Of The Dead" was launched in June and became an instant viral sensation on myspace.com/newvaliant, and other video sites around the web, gaining tens of thousands of hits in the first week. The short continues to receive rave reviews, both locally in Nashville and from people around the globe.
The short was screened at a Town Hall meeting in Nashville on Monday night sponsored by City Councilman Duane Dominy. Director Cameron McCasland was on hand with Larry Underwood and Linda Wylie to present "Trash Day Of The Dead" to local citizens. McCasland stated "Its wonderful to screen this in a public setting, and get peoples reactions to it. Councilman Dominy has been very supportive of our efforts here in Nashville. Dr. Gangrene has been committed to serving the community for over a decade now, and we're happy to hear community input." Councilman Duane Dominy plans to present a Go Green With Dr. Gangrene Resolution to the Metro City Council in an upcoming meeting in Nashville.
The Ava Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals.
