A silly TV sci-fi movie that takes place 40 years in the future when a group of astronauts return to Earth from their cryogenic sleep. They find their world stripped barren of trees because of these invading termite-like aliens who like to eat the wood-and who use the remaining humans as slave labor. Bruce Campbell is Ivan Hood, who is now the only doctor on the planet and refers to himself as 'The Great Healer'. He escapes from the slave camp and recruits a group of people to revolt against the aliens. The insect aliens are cool-looking enough, like those Zindi insect aliens from STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. The long-hair wigs and beards the people wear are very fake looking. And Campbell is just a bit too smarmy (and, I think, too over-rated). An okay spoof of PLANET OF THE APES.Directed by Josh Becker (LUNATICS: A LOVE STORY, various TV shows like HERCULES, XENA & JACK OF ALL TRADES).
