A high-speed train going across the West is stopped at a road crossing when a meteor hits a car, exploding it and its passengers. One of the train engineers sees a small creature darting out of the meteor and goes to look for it under the train. He's partially eaten. The local policeman (Lou Diamond Phillips in yet another throw-away role) shows up and wants to investigate further, but that train is transporting an important Governor to a meeting and there's no detaining him any more. The policeman also realizes that his ex-wife (Amy Locane) just happens to be aboard the train, as she's the Governor's publicist. Once the train starts moving Phillip's character decides he has to get on that train and protect the people from the alien, so he gets a friend to drop him off on it from a helicopter. There is indeed an alien on board, not the best looking creature I've ever seen. And it's multiplying at an alarming rate. If this wasn't bad enough, there also happens to be an eco-terrorist on board, who wants to stop the Governor's career before his influence destroys more of the Alaskan wilderness. And even worse, when they all try to stop the train, they can't because the engineer is killed and the deadman's switch in the control room isn't working, so the train is speeding out of control-and will run into another train (which just happens to be carrying nuclear waste) in less than an hour. I've never seen so many coincidences in a badly written movie. I think the title, ALIEN EXPRESS really refers to what the viewer will want to do once they start watching this-expressing through the movie via their fast-forward on the remote control.
